Earlier in the year I mentioned that one of my aims this year was to enter more competitions and/or exhibitions. So far I've entered three and I've been successful in the first one. One of my pieces has been shortlisted for Wildlife Artist of the Year. It will be on display at the Mall Galleries in London in June, more details later.
I've done some more work on the Mallard, mainly the boring bits, the background. The photograph isn't very good as today has been a day of really heavy showers so the light is poor. The little bit of colour I've added isn't showing up very well so I'll do a scan tomorrow.
Gayle! Wow, congratulations! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. You surely deserve an award like that with the quality of your work. How exciting!
ReplyDeleteAnd the mallard is coming along beautifully. When I first moved into my current house, wild ducks used to come to the pond and occasionally I'd get close enough for a photo. They're lovely.
Congratulations on the wildlife artist comp and good luck to go further with it. Love the mallard though.
ReplyDeleteShort listed for Wildlife Artist of the Year...really good and so well deserved! Congratulations Gayle:)
ReplyDeleteI love the progress on the mallard drawing. I live near a river in the northeast and this is the sort of scene I see all the time. Do you mind if I ask if the water is done completely in graphite?
ReplyDeleteHallo, the cats are very, very nice! i like cats and i am leaving with 8 of thems...sorry for my bad language but i am italian artist..many kiss to you!! ^__^
ReplyDeleteThank you for your congratulations, I'm still on cloud nine.
ReplyDeleteLaurene it is all graphite
Thank you Gayle.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Gayle, that is wonderful news and very well deserved! Which piece did you put in?
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracy, it was the Stoat and rocks
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to see this finished. It is absolutely gorgeous so far. Please post when it is complete! can't wait to see the final.
