Tabby Cat in Graphite

Although I took a small set of watercolours to Canada I spent most of my time glued to my camera. By the time we got back to the room in the evenings I was ready for my art fix so I started a tabby cat in graphite.
This is about12 x 10 on Arches HP watercolour paper.
I'm going to the Private View for the SOFA Exhibition at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery tomorrow. If any of you are going to be there please come and say hello.

Your drawings are absolutely stunning. I keep finding myself coming back for inspiration; something I seem to be lacking at the moment. I was wondering if I may ask how you achieve such depth with you pencil portraits? Do you add a lighter layer first and then draw in the shadows between the hairs, or do you draw the hairs in first and then tone them? I have Mike Sibley's book and am familiar with his technique however my attempts always seem to lack depth? Also, I was wondering if have any step by step demonstrations of drawing fur? As someone who is most familiar with using pencil, your coloured work inspires me to have a go at different things but I lack confidence. I was wondering how you apply your technique of watercolour and coloured pencil for example when drawing fur? I hope asking so many questions is not a problem. I look forward to seeing more of your artworks come to life! Sincerely, Sarah
