Brown Hare in Mixed Media

I want to take a break from drawing cats, I feel that I need to concentrate on different subjects for a while. I have more or less completed the images for this years Society of Feline Artists exhibition so I can spare the time away from the felines.
I want to add to my portfolio of british wildlife so I'm starting with this hare.
I'm using coloured pencil and watercolour on a Strathmore paper. The image size is about 10 x 8 inches.
The left ear is not yet completed as I need to really concentrate on the way the fur grows.

This looks just great Gayle! Made me think of Albrecht Durer, one of my favorite artists.

Hi Gayle,
I find your booklet on how to draw a cat really helpful. When you use watercolour, do you use it only for the first layers and add the coloured pencil on top? It's looking great, very expressive

Hi Gayle,
I'm using your booklet on how to draw a cat and find it very helpful.
The hare is looking great, very expressive. Do you limit the watercolour to the first layers, adding coloured pencils on top?
Thank you,

Thank you.
I might even add some grass Mary, if I do it will just be a touch in graphite though.
I use the watercolour underneath and then add gouache in between the layers of coloured pencil, or even finish off with gouache. I have no single method each picture is different.
