Stoat in Coloured Pencil

I've been continuing to work on the stoat painting. I've added the stoat itself and you can see the scale. When I was watching the stoat on the Loch side running in and out of the huge boulders I couldn't help comparing its brief lifespan to the endless eons the rocks had been in existence. That was my concept behind the painting, a tiny bright spark in a large monochrome landscape.

I do love how the Stoat stands out among the massive rocks. Are you finished with it. I love it just as it is with the negative and positive space.

Love this sketch. It conveys the mood you were trying to create with minimal strokes.

Love the stoat's perky posture... and the delicate way you've rendered the rocks and grass. Can't wait to see the finished piece.

This will have such impact when its done. I love the scale of the stoat against the rocks and it being virtually the only colour.
