Back from Scotland

The weather was really cold in Scotland, down to minus 20 overnight and never above freezing during the day. It was beautiful, the sun shone and the frost was so thick it looked like snow. The dogs came back from their late night walk with tiny icicles under their chins, formed by their warm breath condensing. Clinton wasn't too impressed with this and demanded they were removed by leaping about shaking his head, then sinking slowly to the floor and rubbing his head on the carpet.
This is my favourite photograph, taken on the shore of Loch Fleet.

Tomorrow I'll post a bit about my aims for 2009 as far as my artwork is concerned.

Gorgeous photos - you can feel the chill almost (a good thing from my standpoint as I am in Auckland New Zealand which is hot and humid at the moment and you need several cold showers a day just to cool off.

What beautiful wintery photos, Gayle! I love the way the frost on the grasses look like little brittle thorns.

In the second phot, what kind of animal is that?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Gayle. Scotland sounded cold but inspiring.

And I love these photos. We had a frost just like this yesterday. The car looked positively furry! :)

And that weasel/stoat? What a lucky shot! Fabulous photo.

I would love to live in Scotland, maybe I'll retire there.
I think it's a Stoat, but if anyone thinks it's a Weasel please let me know.
Happy New Year Jeanette, I love looking at your photographs, I would really like to live near the sea like you.

Wonderful photos, Gayle and I'm very pleased you kept the coldset weather to the bit of scotland you were in. We had lovely sushine right up here in the far far north :)

Not sure about th stoat/weasel thing - did it have a dark tip to the tail? (stoat) but on the other hand, it should maybe have been in its white coat in jan if it was a stoat?....hmmmm! A terrific shot either way, well done, I'm jealous!

Gayle, Wonderful frosty pictures. They have a bluish iridescent look to them. Awesome. It looks like a weasel to me in the second picture. I never heard of a stoat. I'll have to google that.

Hi Gayle,

I just stumbled upon your blog and I love your work! I have a couple of questions, and I'm not familiar with the blogging thing so I thought it would be okay if I posted it here.
How are you liking the Neocolor II? Are you using them wet for your backgrounds? If so, do you need to prepare colourfix paper in anyway?
Isn't it difficult to get strokes of fur look right on sanded paper? I've been wanting to try colourfix.

I hope I'm not a bother,

Kind regards,

Sarinah
